Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya fame Anupam Shyam dies at 63 due to multiple organ failure

Veteran actor Anupam Shyam popularly known for the television show, ‘Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya’ died in Mumbai on Sunday due to multiple organ failure. He had been suffering from a kidney ailment for a long and was hospitalized about a week ago. The actor was admitted to the critical care unit and his health deteriorated on Sunday. He was 63.

Actor Yashpal Sharma told the news agency that, “I got to know that he’s no more. So we rushed here & found he was still breathing. The doctor later declared him dead. He was hospitalized for 4 days. He had high blood sugar and used to take injections during the shooting of his last film.”

Rajan Shahi, producer of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2, said in a statement, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Anupam Shyamji. May his family get all the strength to sail through these difficult times. I remember when we started with Pratigya season 2, he was extremely happy to work again and play his favorite character, Sajjan Singh. He was always so lively and full of enthusiasm and will be remembered for his remarkable performances. May his soul rest in peace.”

Producer Ashoke Pandit also confirmed the news of his death with a tweet on Sunday night. “Sad to know about the demise of one of the finest actors & a great human being #AnupamShyam due to multiple organ failure. My heartfelt condolences to his family. A great loss to the film & tv industry,” he said.

Last year, Anupam Shyam’s brother had to appeal for financial aid. He recuperated and recently joined the cast of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2 as Sajjan Singh.

Anupam was known for playing antagonists, he began his career in 1996 with Sardari Begum. He was later seen in films like Dil Se, Lajja, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Satya, Dushman, Zakhm, Slumdog Millionaire, and many others.

While he started his television career with Amaravathi ki Kathaye, he rose to fame as Thakur Sajjan Singh in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya which got aired from 2009to 2012. He returned as the same character in the show’s second iteration.
